The “Notes” is a useful note-taking application in macOS, just like “Sticky Notes” in Windows. The Notes app helps you jot down important points that come to your mind and schedule your work.
However, you might sometimes accidentally delete your notes from the Notes app or find your Notes missing. Don’t worry. You can get back your notes by using the methods presented hereunder.
When you accidentally delete a note from the Notes application, you can use the app’s recently deleted section to restore the deleted note. Steps to restore deleted notes are explained next:
a)Click the sidebar icon from the Notes application’s top menu to bring up the sidebar.
b)ClickRecently Deleted从侧边栏找到deleted notes on the right column.
c)Select the deleted note, secondary click, and selectMove to>On My Mac>Notesto restore it.
The Notes application keeps the recently deleted notes for 30 days with the grace of 10 more days. In case you did not restore the notes within 40 days, the deleted notes are removed from the recently deleted section.
In case a note is deleted from the Recently Deleted section, you can use Time Machine backup to restore your recently deleted note. The steps are explained next:
a)OpenFinder, then navigate toGo>Go To Folder. Type the following path in the text box:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.notes/Data/Library/Notes/and pressReturn.
b)Select the Notes file, then go toMenu Bar> clickTime Machineicon > selectEnter Time Machine.
c)Navigate to the date when the Notes file containing your note was available using the Up-Down arrow or Timeline.
d)Select the found Notes file, secondary click, and selectRestore恢复文件。
e)Now copy the Notes file to Desktop and rename the extension to .html and open it in Safari. Look for the lost notes and copy them to the Notes app.
The Time Machine application is useful only when it has taken the backup. When you don’t have a Time Machine backup or backup was not up-to-date, use a Mac data recovery software to recover your deleted note.
