Stellar Data Recovery/4. Working with the Software/4.9.执行深度扫描/4.9.1. Why enable Kernel Extension (KEXT)?
Stellar Data Recoveryprovides recovery of data from mac models with a T2 security chip. If you have T2 security chip system then you need to allow the software forKernel Extension (KEXT).KEXTis digitally signed byStellar®and verified byApple®.Thus, your system and its privacy are safe.
Note: While performing a deep scan of any volume,Stellar Data Recoverysoftware is required to enableKernel Extension (KEXT). This process only needs to be set when starting a deep scanning process for the first time.
1. RunStellar Data Recovery.
2. FromSelect What to Recoverscreen, select the desired type of data i.e.Documents, Emails, Videos, AudioorPhotosyou want to recover. TheRecover Everythingoption is turnedONby default. You can also customize your scan by selecting your preferred type.
3. ClickNext.
4. FromRecover Fromscreen, select the volume from which you want to recover the data.
5. SelectDeep Scandirectly from here, if you want to perform a comprehensive scan of the selected volume. Then click onScan.
Note:If you don't want to selectDeep ScanfromRecover Fromscreen, then skipStep 6and directly click onScanbutton for quick volume scanning.
6. TheAllow Extensiondialog box is displayed. ClickNextto proceed.
Note: For further instructions on how toEnable Extension,follow the steps mentioned fromStep 11.
7. Click停止button, if you need to abort the scanning process before it is completed.
8. After the scanning process is completed, details of the files and folder found are displayed in a dialog box as shown below:
9. ClickOKto finish the process.
10. If you have done a quick scan fromRecover Fromscreen and your expected data is not recovered then click onclick herelink from preview window to perform deep scanning.Deep Scandialog box is displayed prompting to enableKernel Extension (KEXT)and then perform a deep scan.
11. ClickEnable Extensionbutton, a window appears showing a short procedure to allow the extension. ClickNext.
12.System Extension Blockedwindow is displayed with the application name that requiresKernel Extension (KEXT).
Note: There are two cases whenSystem Extension Blockedwindow is displayed:
Case 1: When your system has a single application that requires Kernel Extension.
Case 2: When your system has multiple applications that require Kernel Extension.
ForCase 1, follow the instructions given fromStep 13toStep 18.
13. ClickOpen Security Preferencesand wait for the system to open theSecurity & Privacysettings.
Note: In some cases, if you clickOKon theSystem Extension Blockeddialog box instead ofOpen Security Preferences,Stellar Data Recoverymight not give you the option to open theSecurity & Privacysettings when you run scan the next time. In that case, you need to manually open theSecurity & Privacysettings using the procedure given inHow to manually open the Security & Privacy settings in macOS.
14.On the bottom left corner of the window, click the lockicon.
15. Use yourTouch ID(if available) or enter your system administrator credentials and clickUnlock. This enables theAllowbutton on theSecurity & Privacywindow.
16. ClickAllow, allowing macOS to load the extension signed by “Stellar Data Recovery”.
17. CloseSecurity & Privacywindow to go back toStellar Data Recovery.
18. ClickContinueon theAllow Extensionwindow to resume your scan of the System Disk.
ForCase 2, follow the instructions given from Step 19 to 25:
19. OnAllow Extensionwindow, clickNextbutton. If your system has multiple applications that supportKernel ExtensionthenSystem Extension Blockedwindow is displayed multiple times with all the available application names.
20. ClickOpen Security Preferencesand wait for the system to open theSecurity & Privacysettings.
Note: In some cases, like if you clickOKon theSystem Extension Blockeddialog box instead ofOpen Security Preferences,Stellar Data Recoverymight not give you the option to open theSecurity & Privacysettings when you run scan the next time. In that case, you need to manually open theSecurity & Privacysettings using the procedure given inHow to manually open the Security & Privacy settings in macOS.
21. On the bottom left corner of the window, click the lockicon.
22. Use yourTouch ID(if available) or enter your system administrator credentials and clickUnlock. This enables theDetailsbutton on theSecurity & Privacywindow.
23. ClickDetailsbutton.
24. A window appears listing the available application names along with a checkbox. SelectStellar Data RecoveryInc.checkbox and clickOK.
25. A window is displayed with a message, "A restart is required before new system extensions can be used." Click onRestartbutton.
In some cases, if you are unable to allow macOS to load the extension in the first attempt,Stellar Data Recoverydisplays the following dialog box when you scan a system disk the next time.
This means you have to manually open theSecurity & Privacy在macOS设置。打开安全内核的过程ity settings is given as follows:
1. Click theAppleicon from the top left of your screen and selectSystem Preferencesfrom the drop-down menu.
2. SelectSecurity & Privacy.
3. Follow the steps fromStep 14of the procedure to allow macOS to load an extension signed by “Stellar Data Recovery”.
