4.1. Create Image

Stellar Data Recovery for Tapeprovides a feature to create a file (.tape) called anImageof the tape that contains the stored tape data which you need to recover. Select the location of your choice and save the newly created image.

Steps to create an image:

1. RunStellar Data Recovery for Tape.

2. Select Optionwindow is displayed. There are two options:

   1. Create Image: Select this option and clickNext.

   2. Load Image

3. Select Destination Pathwindow is displayed. ClickBrowseto select a destination path where you want to save the tape drive image.

4. FromForce Block Sizedrop-down list, select the required block size. The stored data will divide into the selected block size.

Note: "Auto" block size is recommended as this is the predefined block size and hence will process fast.

Note: CheckEject Tape on image completioncheckbox, if you want to eject the connected tape drive from the system after the image is created.

Note: CheckTurn-Off Computer after image creation is completecheckbox, if you want to turn off the computer after the image is created.

5. ClickCreateto start the image creation process.Creating Imagewindow is displayed as shown below:

Caution: You can't stop the ongoingCreating Imageprocess. If you directly close the software, it will harm the tape drive or the data.

6. After successful completion,图像创建window is displayed. It shows the destination path where the created image is saved and its size.

7. ClickScanto proceed.

Note: In LTO tape drive, either the same version of the tape will work or the previous version will work.

Note: The software creates the image in.tapeextension.
